Frequently asked questions about the Mulranny Artist Retreat:

How do I get to the retreat location?

It's recommended that students fly into the Dublin International Airport. From the airport you can take a bus or taxi directly to the train station and catch a train to Newport. There will be one pickup time at the Newport Train Station in the late afternoon on August 31 to accommodate all students (Time TBD). We will also return you to the Newport train station when your retreat has concluded.

Can I pay for my tuition in installments?

Your initial nonrefundable workshop deposit of $600 is due at registration. The remaining balance can be paid in two installments of $1850 each by the specified due dates. The first payment of $1850 is due by February 15, 2023 and the remaining balance of $1850 is due by May 15, 2023.

 

How much of my tuition is refundable if I have to cancel?

Your deposit of $600 is due at registration and is nonrefundable. Any other payments made towards your tuition will be refunded less a $49 admin fee if cancellation is requested before May 15, 2023. Cancelations made after May 15, 2023 are non-refundable.

 

How do I get my artwork home?

We will be working on small panels in your workshop so you can easily pack them in your suitcase. Save room in your bag or bring an extra suitcase for your art panels. Arrangements for shipping your work home can also be arranged for an additional fee.

 

What size panels will we be working on in the workshops?

We will work on panels around 8” x 8” and smaller so you can easily transport your work home.

 

Do I have to be present for the entire duration of the retreat?

To get the most out of your retreat experience we recommend attending the retreat in its entirety. Please notify us if you will be arriving late or leaving early.

 

What if I have special dietary needs?

Every effort will be made to meet your dietary needs. There is also shopping in town where you can purchase additional food supplies if needed. 

 

Are there any private rooms available?

Rooms will be appointed to guests on arrival. We can not guarantee a private room at this facility. 

 

Are there laundry facilities available at the retreat?

Yes… there is a washer and dryer available for students to use for a small fee during their stay.

 

Can I bring a companion if they're not participating?

We can not accommodate partners or companions on campus, but nearby food & lodging is available.

 

Do I need to have prior experience with encaustic to attend this retreat?

Students attending this event will benefit most if you already have prior experience with encaustic and wish to expand your creative practice and pursue a career as a professional artist.

What are the workshop hours?

The workshop hours are from 10am to 5pm with a 1hr lunch break mid day. There will be scheduled open studio time available for students who wish to work independently outside of class hours.

 

How many participants are in the retreat?

There are 10 total participants in the Mulranny retreat allowing for individualized instruction and creative coaching.

 

Is airfare covered in my tuition fee?

Airfare and expenses outside of the workshop are not included in your tuition fee. Please see the Registration Page for expenses that are included in your tuition.

 

Do I need to bring any materials or supplies?

All of your materials are provided for this workshop. You are welcome to bring additional materials that you wish to work with in class. Digital samples of your current work are recommended if you wish to participate in private coaching sessions.
