RECOMMENDED TORCHES FOR ENCAUSTIC:
This is my go-to torch when making my own artwork. Get the BernzOmatic KC3500 if you want a flame that has a wide range of control. It adjusts from a super high flame for fusing larger areas down to a whisper flame for more delicate fusing. A must have tool for your studio.
BernzOmatic KC3500 Torch Kit
Iwatani Cooking Torch
I love this Japanese torch from Iwatani so much I nicknamed mine "Tank". It has a beautiful large flame that I use for priming my larger panels. Another "must have" tool for your encaustic studio!
SOURCES FOR ENCAUSTIC PANELS:
Light weight wood panels make the best substrates for working with encaustic. Check your local art supply store and here are a few online sources...
Ampersand Art Supply Unprimed Basswood Artist Panel 12x12
Art Alternatives Wood Panel, 8x8 Pack of 5
ALCOHOL INKS
I prefer Ranger inks, such as this great set for botanicals, and I like to use a portable airbrush to use just air to gently blow the inks around.
